For all podcasts and videos, try to collect as much information as possible. A podcast reference citation requires the following format:
Producer’s or Author’s last name, First initial. [username or screen name if provided]. (Identification of responsibility like Director, Producer, or Writer if available). (Year, Month Day of Publication). Title of podcast [Audio or video podcast]. Retrieved from URL homepage
If only the user or screen name is provided, use that name in place of the author name without brackets:
Screen name. (year, month day). Title of video [Video file]. Retrieved from http://xxxxx
Note: Instead of the direct, full URL, the homepage URL is considered a more reliable long-term URL for audiovisual media online. For example, if the podcast was on iTunes instead of the full URL, you would use Retrieved from http://itunes.apple.com.
Here’s an example of an audio podcast:
Biello, D. (Author). (2011, May 1). Solar power boosts home sales? [Audio podcast]. Retrieved from http://www.scientificamerican.com/podcasts
The in-text citation for this example will look like this: (Biello, 2011).
