Below are some steps to help you locate information about medical assisting.

For details about careers and issues within a career, professional associations are going to the first thing to check. For medical assistants, I found this site:  http://www.aama-ntl.org

Their publication CMA Today actually has articles are below.  You can copy the links and paste them into your browser.

http://www.aama-ntl.org/medassisting/articles.aspx and: http://www.aama-ntl.org/CMAToday/public_affairs_links.aspx

And now, a walk through of a couple of searches in the Library.

The first place we will look is in a source called the Occupational Outlook Handbook.  Articles in the Handbook describe the job, salary, outlook, etc.

Here's what to do:

On the right hand side of the library's main page, there is a short list of links.  Click on Databases A-Z

Scroll down the alphabetical list and click on the link for Business Source Complete.

In the first blank search box, type:  medical assistant occupational outlook handbook

Click the Search button.

Other searches you should try:

Go back to the online library's welcome screen, which is the first screen you see when you come into the library.

Use the search box on the welcome screen.  This search will search through most of our databases for articles and eBooks on your topic.

In the search box, type "medical assistant" -- the quotes around it tell the search engine to search for the exact phrase you type in, instead of 2 different keywords.  Then click on Search.
Other searches to try:
  • medical assistant careers
  • medical assistants job duties
  • medical assistant occupation
  • medical assistant salaries

If you have further questions, please contact the library!!
